Senate Veterans' Committee Hearing - April 12, 2011

The California Senate Veterans' Committee unanimously approved Senate Bill No. 443 on April 12, 2011. This Bill would direct Caltrans to work with OTORA to get the Veterans’ Memorial with a 60’ tall flagpole built.

The Bill will go to the Senate Transportation and Housing Committee possibly sometime in May. Because the project is privately funded it will not have to go before the Senate Appropriations Committee.

Senator Tony Strickland introduced the Bill and then introduced me. I had the honor of presenting the project to the committee. Old Town Orcutt was well represented at the hearing with American Legion Commander Bob Bumann, Marine Corps League Commandant Rick Pushies and OTORA Board member Berto van Veen testifying in support of the project.
